Reports To: VP of Advanced Development
The Nature and Scope of the Position
ThingMagic's Advanced Development Group develops cutting-edge systems based on ThingMagic’s portfolio of RFID products and solves challenging RFID system optimization problems for its customers. The antenna designer will lead the development of application-driven antenna systems and the integration of RFID antenna and transceiver components into powerful solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead ThingMagic’s program and efforts on RFID antenna system design
- Interface with key customers to understand system requirements and product solutions.
- Work with product marketing to establish product definitions.
- Work with ThingMagic’s test group to prove out solutions experimentally.
- Work with external Industrial Design experts.
- Interface with the Development Group, i.e. the Hardware Group and Software Group .
Key Requirements
The following skills and experience are essential:
- 5-10 years experience in RF system design including antennas.
- Masters or PhD in Physics or Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on electromagnetics.
- Experience with communication systems including link margin analysis.
- Experience with 2.5D/3D electromagnetic simulation software (e.g. HFSS).
- Experience with both single element and phased array antenna systems.
- Experience in antenna characterization and/or interpretation of results from antenna characterization.
- Excellent communication, writing and analysis skills.
- Challenged by troubleshooting issues with insufficient data or product information.
- Detail-oriented and motivated by producing high-quality products.
The following skills and qualifications would be a strong advantage:
- Experience in the RFID industry.
- Experience with MIMO systems.
- Professional focus on embedded products.
- Component level RF design skills and experience.
- Mechanical engineering and/or industrial design experience.
- Experience with MATLAB or other similar programming languages.

The Corporate Sales Representative is an individual contributor role reporting to the VP of Sales & Marketing. Corporate Sales’ primary responsibility is creating and maximizing revenue opportunities against the corporate revenue goals and market definition.
The successful candidate will work with exceptional colleagues in a casual and stimulating environment. ThingMagic offers competitive compensation with a great benefits package.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop sales strategies to identify and close new opportunities and maximize revenue from existing customers within ThingMagic’s defined regions.
- Coordinate sales, marketing, engineering and support resources to provide a seamless customer experience.
- Maintain a high degree of technical knowledge to effectively communicate the capabilities and features of ThingMagic products, and have the ability to overcome common sales objections.
- Foster positive, long term relationships with customers so that ThingMagic is recognized as a trusted partner and market leader.
- Diligently forecast opportunities to provide management with the best possible insight into the business.
- Prepare sales summary report and deliver to sales and executive teams on a weekly basis.
- With oversight from the Director of Corporate Sales, actively manage pricing and margin contributions, while maintaining flexibility to respond to customer needs.
- Consistently meet revenue and other target objectives.
- Manage large numbers of inbound lead inquiries for 100% response and coverage.
- Manage all aspects of the sales process from cold calling to deal closure.
- Disciplined tracking of opportunities and customer contact in our customer relationship management systems (Salesforce.com).
- Limited and appropriate travel may be required.
Required Skills:
- BA / BS degree, MBA a plus.
- 5+ years experience selling hardware or software products, with familiarity selling to direct, channel and OEM customers. Previous sales of RFID experience is highly desirable but not a requirement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong planning and account management skills.
- Team player that does whatever it takes to get things done.
- Be able to work autonomously and succeed with minimal supervision.
