Yael MaguireYael Maguire, Co-Founder: Yael Maguire is a co-founder and CTO of ThingMagic, Inc., co-developing this new technology to let computers and machines "see" the world in a completely new way, and which now finds uses in Ford Trucks and Lexmark printers. Maguire completed his PhD at the MIT Media Laboratory in the area of near-field electromagnetic measurement through his invention of a new type of sensor for molecular detection using NMR. This innovation has many promising applications in biology and chemistry. Maguire also holds a master's in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT for his work towards scaling NMR quantum computing to table-top systems, and an undergraduate degree from Queen's University, Canada in Engineering Physics. While still a graduate student, he co-founded Design that Matters (DtM), a course at MIT that was designed to bring together engineering students to work on technical challenges posed by NGOs and governments in order to improve the quality of life for people in underserved communities around the world. The DtM course has been adopted by other educational institutions around the world, such as The Sristhi School of Design, and its spirit flourishes in a NPO of the same name. Maguire's contributions have been presented in numerous publications, such as Science and Proceedings of the National Academy of the Sciences, and his work has been featured in numerous press including the Boston Globe and Wired Magazine. He has won numerous awards, most recently being recognized with ThingMagic as a 2009 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, a MassHighTech All-Star, and one of Technology Review's "Top 35 innovators in the world under 35".

Ravi PappuRavi Pappu, Co-Founder: currently runs the Advanced Development Group, which is tasked with developing cutting-edge systems based on our portfolio of RFID products and solving challenging RFID system optimization problems for our customers. Most recently, he led the design and implementation of the Tool Link system in collaboration with Ford Motor Company and DeWalt. He received his Ph.D. from MIT for the invention of physical one-way functions. While at MIT, he co-created the first dynamic holographic video system with haptic interaction. He has published 25 papers, including a recent one titled "RFID Privacy Without Killing", and is a named inventor on 12 US and international patents. Ravi has been honored as one of Technology Review's top 100 innovators under the age of 35. He received the Carl T. Humphrey Memorial Award for Contributions to the Engineering Profession from Villanova University and was named a Fellow of the World Technology Network in 2006. Ravi co-conceived and implemented Asha For Education's "Work an Hour For Education" campaign in 1998. This event, now held annually, has raised approximately $1M for education in India. He is also one of the founders of Design That Matters, a non-profit that harnesses university students to solve challenging technical problems in the developing world.

Bernd SchronerBernd Schoner, Co-Founder & Managing Partner: Bernd's expertise includes time series prediction, nonlinear estimation, stochastic processes, machine learning, neural networks, and audio processing. His research has led to devices and software applications as unique as the Marching Cello, a wearable instrument providing the functionality of a cello, and a giant polyphonic floorboard for the Flying Karamazov Brothers. Despite his work on digital stringed instruments, he still enjoys playing his acoustic cello, and is also a competitive gymnast. Bernd holds a Diplom-Ingenieur in Electrical Engineering from Rheinisch-Westphälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, Germany, and an Ingénieur des Arts et Métiers in Industrial Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Paris, France. He received his Ph.D. from the MIT Media Laboratory in 2000.

Matt ReynoldsMatt Reynolds, Co-Founder: Matt is an electrical engineer specializing in wireless communication systems. He has designed remote sensing and communication systems that have been deployed successfully at the south summit of Mt. Everest, on the Embree Glacier in Antarctica, in rural South America, and underwater in MIT's ORCA robotic submarine. Matt's research interests include low power wireless systems, embedded communications and networking, radiolocation systems, electronic circuits and devices, and digital signal processing. He has a Ph.D. from MIT Media Lab, where he was Motorola Fellow, and holds S.B. and M.Eng. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.
