Boston Business Journal Highlights 2008 Honorees Cambridge, MA, October 3, 2008 - ThingMagic, Inc. (www.thingmagic.com), a leading developer of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, today announced Ravi Pappu, cofounder and head of the Advanced Development Group, was honored as a 2008 Boston Business Journal 40 Under 40 recipient. Now in its 11th year, the program acknowledges young professionals who are recognized as the greater Boston area's next generation of business leaders and innovators. Selected from over 300 nominations, Pappu and others were formally honored at a reception last evening at the Marriott Boston Copley Place. In addition to this honor, Pappu was chosen for MIT Technology Review magazine's TR100 list of top innovators, and has been named a World Technology Network fellow. His doctoral research was featured as a Top Science Story of 2002 by Scientific American magazine. At ThingMagic, Pappu has worked in several roles to support the company's growth, most recently developing the Tool Link system in partnership with Ford Motor Company and DeWalt. This customized RFID system automatically tracks tools and other valuable assets onboard vehicles, reducing equipment losses and work inefficiencies that result from the absence of specific tools on a job site. "As a cofounder, Ravi played a critical role growing ThingMagic out of a local garage into a world leader in RFID reader technology. And, in his role as head of the Advanced Development Group, he has worked through complex and customized RFID applications with customers ranging from the Fortune 500 to small businesses," said ThingMagic CEO Tom Grant. "This honor comes as no surprise to his coworkers and ThingMagic RFID adopters." "It's always gratifying when peers recognize one's work and community efforts. The 40 Under 40 award is a credit to the teams at ThingMagic, Design That Matters, and Asha for Education, and to my mentors at MIT," Pappu said. "At work and in the community, innovation and leadership is often spurred by other people and their ideas, and I’m very fortunate to be among inspiring and supportive colleagues -- of all ages." |

About Us
RFID Demand Increasing
"Month to month, we're seeing demand for RFID label applications that extend far beyond traditional retail and supply chain use. In addition to CPG suppliers, manufacturers and retailers, our RFID customers include businesses in the food industry, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and other markets, using RFID for inventory control, asset tracking, document tracking, and even patient tracking. When they see a demonstration of a 10-second RFID scan of a rack of products versus a 10-minute manual bar code scan of the same rack, they're eager to adopt RFID and customize an application for their specific use."
